Ellen
Reiss-Goldfarb, R.D. is a Registered Dietitian with a Private
Practice in West Los Angeles, California. She was co-founder of
"Through the Looking Glass", a support program for people with
eating disorders and body images issues. She has worked as a clinical
nutrition consultant and nutritional educator for over ten years.
Her vision is to assist people in achieving their personal goals
through nutrition education, as well as supporting their efforts
in attaining balance in all areas of their lives.
Ellen's private practice focuses on providing nutritional therapy
and guidance for people of all ages who suffer from eating disorders
and distorted body image issues. She also helps those in need
of weight management, providing healthier lifestyle practices,
and fitness recommendations. She has many years of experience
working with patients with medical nutrition issues such as Diabetes,
Hypercholesterolemia, PCOS, and Gastrointestinal issues to name
a few.

Ellen
has recently completed her Certification with The Commission on
Dietetic Registration as an expert in Childhood and Adolescent
Weight Management.
She has functioned as a leader in many areas of her practice starting
with consulting to weight management programs, consulting to hospitals
and long term care facilities and acting as a Clinical Nutrition
Manager at two major hospitals in Los Angeles. She helped to launch
and develop an eating disorders program at an inpatient treatment
facility in Torrance, California and has developed and run her
own support groups for the past two years. She recently was an
integral part of a Weight Management Study with LA Clinical Trials.
Ellen has worked at UCLA Medical Center's outpatient pre-natal
clinic (The Rhonda Fleming Center) and enjoys helping women in
her private practice who need nutritional support with pregnancy,
pre and post natal nutrition and nutrition education for infants
and children.

She
is a passionate, creative and dynamic public speaker who has lectured
on topics such as "Simple Steps to Better Nutrition", "Natural
Energy Boosters", "The Dangers of Unhealthy Dieting and Eating
Disorders" "Sports Nutrition and It's Effect on Performance" and
Reading Food Labels and Healthy Shopping" which culminated with
a group tour of the grocery store to help facilitate their learning.
Ellen has spoken at many local-area schools and has sat on discussion
panels with other health care professionals in order to educate
students on the dangers of dieting and eating disorders.
Ellen has earned the title of being an Intuitive Eating Specialist after being part of an on-going private supervision group with Elyse Resch who is co-author of the book "Intuitive Eating." This approach to nutrition therapy is being utilized around the country and has had tremendous success.

Ellen has also been featured on Television and her TV performances
include The Food Network's show "The Secret Life of Chocolate"
The Larry Elder Show, NBC News and Fit TV's reality show "Reunion
Story".
One of her long-term passionate goals is to complete a Documentary
she has started which relates to Fad Diets and Eating Disorders.
Ellen
is an active member of several professional organizations, including:
The International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals
(IAEDP), The American Dietetics Association; Nutrition Entrepreneurs and
Weight Management Focus Groups; SCAN; Dietetics in Developmental
and Psychiatric Disorders; ED Referral; LA Task Force on Eating
Disorders(LATFED); the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA);
and Something Fishy.
Ellen has been involved in nutrition and dietetics due to a personal
passion to support and educate people on how to develop a healthy
diet and lifestyle. "With all of the mixed messages in the media
about diet, nutrition, supplements and health, I like to bring
the latest information to my practice so that I can provide clarity
and accuracy to my clients and to the community."
