Research has shown
that people who stuggle with eating disorders do better with their
recovery when they obtain as much support as possible. That is why
Ellen has developed these support groups, to give people who are experiencing
similar issues a chance to support each other in a safe and confidential
environment.
Some of the topics that are discussed in group are:
What
does support look like?
Attitude and Changing Behaviors
Common thoughts and beliefs of dieters
The Good Food/Bad Food Syndrome
Contributing Causes of Eating Disorders
Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats
How to identify hunger, appetite and fullness
The eating guidelines, facing food fears
The importance of balance and variety/metabolism
How to determine your nutrition needs
Understanding feelings and needs/how to get your needs met without
food or the EDO
The role of the eating disorder in your life
Fad diets
Shopping, dining out and food preparation
Cortisol, hormones, omega 3 fatty acids
Exercise and water intake
The media's influence on dieting and health
The group also attends together an outing to a restaurant to experience
dining out and food and feelings.
